Ateker South Sudan Intersection Football Tournament Set to Kick Off in Kapoeta Town

Kapoeta Town, South Sudan – The Toposa Community has given the green light for the inaugural Ateker South Sudan Intersection Football Tournament, scheduled to kick off in Kapoeta Town. The tournament, aimed at promoting talent, peace, and unity among the youth, will feature twelve teams representing different sections of the Toposa community.

The teams, hailing from Riwoto, Karengak, Machi, Ngikor, Ngimogos, Ngibunio, Ngipeimong, Nginyangiya, Ngilogir, Ngiparinga, Jie, and Nyangatom, will compete in a thrilling tournament, with the winner receiving a prize and individual awards for outstanding players.

Hon. Charles Lokonoi, Chairman of the Toposa Community, has lent his support to the initiative, which is expected to bring together young football enthusiasts from across the region. The tournament is set to take place over the next two weeks, with matches scheduled to begin next week, pending the submission of team player lists.

The Ateker South Sudan Intersection Football Tournament aims to address pressing issues affecting the youth in the community, such as idleness, substance abuse, and theft. By providing a platform for young people to engage in sports, the tournament seeks to foster a sense of purpose and belonging among the youth.

The initiative has been welcomed by the youth, who see it as an opportunity to boost their football careers and stay engaged in a positive activity. “We appreciate the move by the TC chairman for supporting youth with this idea,” said a young football enthusiast.

The tournament is expected to be a huge success, with the Toposa Community and football fans eagerly awaiting the kick-off.
