Uganda Cranes face Tunisia in AFCON 2025 opener tonight
Uganda Cranes are all set to take on Tunisia in their AFCON 2025 Group C opener tonight at 11 pm EAT in Rabat. Coach Paul Put‘s men are looking to turn the tide after a 2-0 win over DR Congo in 2019 was their only victory at the finals since their 1978 runner-up finish.

Put’s squad blends experience and youthful energy, with captain Khalid Aucho leading the charge alongside veteran goalkeeper Denis Onyango. Allan Okello is expected to be the creative spark, linking midfield to attack.
The first game sets the rhythm
– Coach Paul Put
Tunisia, African champions in 2004, have a perfect record against Uganda, winning all six previous meetings. However, Put isn’t fazed, focusing on his team’s strengths instead
Possible Lineups:
Tunisia: Ahymen Dahmen, Yassine Meriah, Dylan Bronn, Yan Valery, Ali Abdi, Ferjani Sassi, Ismeal Gharbi, Hannibal Mejbri, Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, Elias Saad, Hazem Mastouri
Uganda: Dennis Onyango, Toby Sibbick, Elio Capradosi, Jordan Obita, Aziz Kayondo, Alhassan Baba, Khalid Aucho, Melvyn Lorenzen, Jude Ssemugabi, Allan Okello, Rogers Mato

The Cranes know a win would set the tone for their tournament, but Put emphasizes unity and focus. “The first game sets the rhythm” he said.
Uganda will take on Tunisia in a massive showdown at 11pm (EAT) in Rabat. How do you think Uganda will fare against Tunisia? Will they break their losing streak against the Carthage Eagles?
