The 3rd edition of the CAVB Zone V Club Championship will have a record number of entries from across the region.
Zone V comprises of 12 Countries, Burundi, Egypt, South Sudan, Sudan, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea, Somalia, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
20 teams have already confirmed participation in the event set for Uganda’s Capital Kampala from 26th February until 4th March 2025 at the Lugogo Indoor stadium.
“I want to thank the Government of Uganda through NCS for giving us the opportunity to host, we are ready to give the fans a memorable experience during the 6 days event”. Said Joseph Odong, Chairman Local Organising Committee.
This is the first major volleyball Championship that will be held in Kampala after Uganda’s Sadik Nasiwu also President of Uganda Volleyball Federation took over the leadership in November 2024.
“As a zone, our target is to host a cost friendly event for the clubs in the region, and give maximum exposure for our athletes “. Said Sadik Nasiwu, President CAVB Zone V and Uganda Volleyball Federation.
Lugogo Indoor stadium and Ok’la Sports arena are earmarked for the event.
Fans will be treated to a non-stop double gender event which will run from 10am until midnight.
“For every regional event, there is always a legacy program, this time we intend to involved our national referees in this competiton as scorers and Court managers as officiation is limited to International Referee” . Said Innocent Komakech, Referee Delegate.
