AFCON 2025: Egypt and South Africa launch campaigns with thrilling Wins
Group B of the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 got off to a thrilling start on Monday night, with Egypt and South Africa securing dramatic opening victories.
In Casablanca, Egypt came from behind to beat Zimbabwe 2-1, thanks to a late winner from Mohamed Salah. The Pharaohs had struggled to break down a disciplined Zimbabwe defense, but Salah’s magic proved too much, as he controlled a dropping ball in the box and drilled home the winner in stoppage time.



Earlier in Marrakech, South Africa edged out Angola 2-1, ending a six-game winless run against the Palancas Negras. Oswin Appollis opened the scoring for Bafana Bafana, but Angola equalized through a Fredy free-kick. Lyle Foster scored the winner in the 79th minute, curling a fine finish into the top corner.
