Hoima City Stadium Handed Over to NCS, Set for Presidential Commissioning
The Hoima City Stadium, a state-of-the-art multi-sports complex, has been handed over to the National Council of Sports (NCS) by Turkish contractor SUMMA, five months ahead of schedule. The $129m project boasts a 20,000-seater stadium, 2,000-seat indoor sports hall, semi-Olympic-sized swimming pool, and outdoor courts for basketball, netball, and volleyball.
NCS Chairman Ambrose Tashobya praised SUMMA for their commitment and efficiency, beating the deadline date by far.
Speaking confidence to the ZUMMA-Government Uganda magnificent achievement, the NCS Secretary general Dr.Benard Patrick Ogwel cited this as a testament to speed and excellence, thanking President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni for their timely financial support.








Members of the board of NCS in attendance included; Chairperson Ambrose Tashobya,Moses Omara Anyii, Hajji Zubair Galiwango, Stephen Kiprotich, Piloya Evelyn Gloria and Cecilia Anyakoit
Other key dignitaries who were part of this momentous occassion are; Rev. Canon Dr. Duncan Mugumya commisioner Physical Education & Sports who represented Permanent Secretary Dr Kedrace Turyagenda, Eng. Edward Ssimbwa representing Permanent secretary Ministry of works of works Waiswa Bageya, Special Presidential Assistant (Education and Sports) Gunter Lange, Assistant commissioner physical Education and sports Sammy Odongo, Representatives of Government MDAs, Resident City Commissioner Badru Mugabi and Mayor Brian Kaboyo who represented Hoima City leadership.
The stadium, built for AFCON 2027, is set to be commissioned by President Museveni on Christmas Eve amidst a flurry of sports activities and great fun fare.
